I have been a photographer since I was a freshman at MIT.

I am an engineer. That means I am a problem-solver, not a temperamental artist. When I take on a commission, I start out with a clear idea of what needs to be done to accomplish the goals of my clients. I study the subject and engineer my photographs accordingly. I don't just take pictures.

Although I started out using film - both 35mm and large format cameras - I have embraced digital technology, Photoshop, and electronic media.

I have written 10 books and numerous articles. Plus, I have designed and produced other interactive media, including educational games.
